Use the positive power of events to pep up your PR

The UK summer may be sporadic in terms of sunshine but when it comes to events 2018 is shaping up to be a red-hot year.

The feel good vibes that events bring with them are often irresistible to those of us in marketing and brands can certainly benefit by association.

When Harry and Meghan announced their impending nuptials last year, many companies were quick to jump on the PR opportunities; from creating replica rings, to taking bets on everything from the wedding date to the dress designer. And with just a week to go to their big day, the media is awash with royal wedding coverage and companies are cashing in too, including Madame Tussauds’ timely unveiling of Miss Markle’s waxwork this week alongside her newly bearded husband-to-be.

Even the couple themselves are using their special day to promote the causes close them.

And it’s not just the charities supported by Harry and Meghan that are set to benefit from the feel good factor around the event.  Research by UK Fundraising suggests events like a royal wedding or the Olympics boost charitable giving overall.

Aside from the royal wedding, sporting events have the ability to raise the nation’s spirits too. All eyes will be on ‘the beautiful game’ as one of our local teams, Liverpool, take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 26, before the England football team kicks off its World Cup campaign in Russia in June.

At Active PR, we work with our clients to harness the positive power that major sporting events can have at grassroots level, within local communities. We’ve just enjoyed a fantastic week of hosting cycling activity days with schools in Yorkshire on behalf of one of our housebuilder clients, linking in with the ‘Tour de Yorkshire’. We’re now changing gear to organise a series of tennis days with children in the run up to July’s Wimbledon fortnight, which are sure to prove a big hit.

So if you’re looking to serve up some feel good PR for your company, call on our 25 years’ of  experience creating a buzz on the back of big events; and we’ll ensure your brand benefits from the power of positivity.
